Recently Rated Leeuwin Wines
From Wine Spectator's blind tastings
Leeuwin Estate produces red and white wines under multiple labels. Its Art Series, bearing labels adorned with paintings by contemporary Australian artists, is the top tier, made with the best fruit and built to age. A great Leeuwin Chardonnay hits its stride at about 10 years old, according to Wine Spectator editor at large Harvey Steiman, based on a track record back to the debut 1980. The Riesling Art Series also develops well in the bottle.
The Prelude Vineyards wines, sourced from specific vineyard blocks, are made to drink well earlier than the Art Series, and the Chardonnay often reaches the 90-point zone. To complement the 2011 Art Series Chardonnay, here is a sampling of other recent white releases.
