Recently Rated Wine from Hewitt

Hewitt focuses on a single historic vineyard whose grapes used to be blended into many top Rutherford wines. Hewitt’s inaugural 2001 vintage was the first single-vineyard wine from this site. But the winery does make one other bottling: Double Plus, an eight-barrel selection primarily from one section of vines in the heart of the vineyard.

Hewitt Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford Double Plus 2010
Score: 96 points
Release Price: $150
Shows wonderful purity, density, structure and finesse, exhibiting tiers of ripe fleshy plum and blackberry fruit, with hints of spice and cedar. Well-focused on the fruit, this ends with ripe, firm, fine-grained tannins. Best from 2014 through 2026. 223 cases made.—James Laube
